Piëch war von 1993 bis 2002 Vorstandsvorsitzender der Volkswagen AG war und hat eine wichtige Rolle bei der Übernahme von Automobili Lamborghini im Jahr 1998 durch die Volkswagen Tochter Audi AG gespielt.

Piëch war fasziniert vom Lamborghini V12-Motor
Piëch war Ingenieur und Innovator und sei insbesondere fasziniert vom legendären Lamborghini V12 Motor gewesen, auf dem der Sián FKP 37 nun mit wegweisender Hybrid Technologie aufbaue. Der Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 zolle den Leistungen von Piëch und dem Volkswagen Konzern beim Aufbau unserer erfolgreichen Marke Tribut und läute "den Weg in die innovative Zukunft von Lamborghini ein". Der FKP 37 warte mit neuen Hybrid-Technologien auf, darunter der weltweit ersten Anwendung eines Superkondensators zur Hybridisierung, neuen Werkstofftechnologien sowie einer großen Performance auf. Sein futuristisches Design mache deutlich, dass es sich hierbei um den ersten Serien Lamborghini mit elektrischer Unterstützung handele. Der Name Sián, im Dialekt seiner Heimatregion Bologna bedeutet das "Blitz" untermauere diesen Anspruch.
Thermische und elektrische Leistung von 812 PS
Mit seiner kombinierten thermischen und elektrischen Leistung von 819 PS weise der FKP 37 das niedrigste jemals erzielte Leistungsgewicht eines V12 Models von Lamborghini auf und beschleunige auf eigens entwickelten Pirelli P Zero Reifen in weniger als 2,8 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h. Der Sián erreiche eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von über 350 km/h. Jedes einzelne der 63 zum Preis von über zwei Millionen Euro (plus Steuern) verkauften Fahrzeuge könnten von seinem neuen Besitzer zusammen mit den Teams vom Lamborghini Centro Stile und Ad Personam zu einem ganz persönlichen Einzelstück konfiguriert werden.

Automobili Lamborghini honours Ferdinand K. Piëch with the presentation of his first Lamborghini hybrid super sports car at the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt. The fastest Lamborghini of all time is named Sián FKP 37 in honour of Ferdinand Karl Piëch, who was born in 1937 and died recently. Piëch was Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG from 1993 to 2002 and played an important role in the takeover of Automobili Lamborghini by the Volkswagen subsidiary Audi AG in 1998.

Piëch was fascinated by the Lamborghini V12 engine
Piëch was an engineer and innovator and was particularly fascinated by the legendary Lamborghini V12 engine, on which the Sián FKP 37 is now based with pioneering hybrid technology. The Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 pays tribute to the achievements of Piëch and the Volkswagen Group in building our successful brand and heralds "the path to Lamborghini's innovative future". The FKP 37 offers new hybrid technologies, including the world's first application of a supercapacitor for hybridization, new materials technologies and high performance. Its futuristic design makes it clear that this is the first Lamborghini series with electrical support. The name Sián, in the dialect of his home region of Bologna, means "lightning" and underpins this claim.
Thermal and electrical output of 812 hp
With its combined thermal and electrical power of 819 hp, the FKP 37 has the lowest power-to-weight ratio ever achieved by a Lamborghini V12 model and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.8 seconds on specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres. The Sián reaches a top speed of over 350 km/h. Each of the 63 cars sold for over €2 million (plus tax) could be configured by its new owner, together with the Lamborghini Centro Stile and Ad Personam teams, to create a personalised one-off.
