English version

The Association of Family Entrepreneurs has called on the coalition parties to abandon billions in new subsidies and support programmes for individual groups such as homeowners and motorists in the climate package. "The temptation to dilute emissions trading through restrictions and new billion-dollar subsidies and subsidy programs for certain clientele must be resisted by the coalition members," said association leader Eberhard von Eben-Worlée of the Düsseldorf "Rheinische Post".

"Such subsidies reduce the price of the certificates optically, but make climate protection much more expensive. The taxpayer then pays for the coal that is hidden in the household," warned von Eben-Worlée.

The cost push of the planned emission trade, which is aligned to the climaticpolitical goals, must be coupled to a significant reform of the duties, levies and taxes.

SMEs must not be burdened additionally

"The bottom line is that small and medium-sized industrial enterprises must not be burdened additionally, because companies have to invest massively in innovations to protect the climate," said the association's head. The industry also needs planning security quickly. "Politicians must not leave the economy in the lurch, but must show a concrete path on Friday as to how the CO2 target will be achieved and the pricing for it will look," Eben-Worlée said.
