Despite the worldwide climate protection protest movement Fridays for Future, the Germans have not yet shown any "flying shame". Since Greta Thunberg founded the protest movement Fridays for Future in August 2018, the number of air passengers in Germany has even increased significantly.

This is the result of a special evaluation of the air traffic data of the Federal Statistical Office, which is available to the Düsseldorf "Rheinische Post". According to this study, the number of passengers in German air traffic has risen every month since August 2018 compared to the same month of the previous year. In the twelve months from August 2018 to July 2019, a total of around 125.1 million passengers took off from Germany. In the twelve months prior to this, from August 2017 to July 2018, 119.4 million passengers flew from Germany. According to the data, the increase was particularly high in April 2019, when around 10.7 million passengers took off from Germany. A year earlier, the figure was only 9.8 million. pm, ots, mei
