English version

Green leader Anton Hofreiter has attacked the federal government sharply because of the massive job cuts at wind turbine manufacturer Enercon. "Instead of restarting the expansion of wind power and taking care of jobs in the industry, the Minister of Economic Affairs, Peter Altmaier, is wilfully destroying this key industry," Hofreiter told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung. With flat-rate distance regulations, as planned by the government, up to 40 percent of all possible wind areas in Germany would be eliminated. "The CDU/CSU and SPD are sabotaging the expansion," Hofreiter criticized.

He called on the Chancellor to prohibit the CDU Minister of Economics from the flat-rate regulation and instead to launch an immediate program to revive the expansion of wind power.

Enercon must cut 3000 jobs

"The expansion of onshore wind energy is essential for climate protection," Hofreiter said. The Green politician emphasized that this is a central future-oriented industry with tens of thousands of jobs, families and sustainable added value, with a view to the Enercon crisis talks. Enercon, the largest manufacturer of wind turbines, has to cut 3000 jobs. In Germany, the expansion of onshore wind power almost came to a standstill in the first half of 2019. Only around 150 new wind turbines were installed, around 80 percent less than in the previous year. pm, ots, mei
