Problematisch sei, dass die SPD stets mit "einer sehr bescheidenen Forderung" in Verhandlungen mit der Union gehen würde, sagte Walter-Borjans, der von 2010 bis 2017 Finanzminister in Nordrhein-Westfalen war. In der Kompromissfindung gebe es dann weitere Abstriche. "Am Ende müssen wir ein bescheidenes Ergebnis dann als volle Durchsetzung sozialdemokratischer Positionen verkaufen. Aber das glaubt uns natürlich niemand."
Esken und Borjans fordern Abschaffung der 1000-Meter-Abstandsregel
Das Bewerber-Duo fordert auch die Abschaffung der viel kritisierten 1000-Meter-Abstandsregel bei Windkraftanlagen, wie sie im Klimapaket festgelegt wurde.
