English version

The four-year renovation of the Empire State Building Observatory (ESBO) on the 80th floor of the world-famous building has been completed. The redesigned ESBO offers New York visitors, among other things, five interactive video presentations with which they can plan trips to the five New York districts. This is a project of NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership office for New York City.

The itineraries are automatically downloaded to the visitor's mobile phone using a QR code reader or can be sent by e-mail. This service was developed in response to research that has shown that the ESBO is the primary destination for many visitors.

Reality scenes of the destinations are shown in binoculars

Interactive, augmented reality scenes from New York City, housed in classic binoculars, bring visitors directly to the visual and acoustic impressions of popular destinations. Other exhibits include videos of ESB's famous light shows with interviews with Marc Brickman, the light artist, user-generated content and the famous monumental New York City skyline painted from memory by British artist Steven Wiltshire.
