Kurzfristig muss unser Ziel mindestens die 20-Prozent-Marke sein", sagte der SPD-Chef. Unterdessen sieht der neue SPD-Vorsitzende Spielraum für Verhandlungen mit der Union. "Frau Merkel hat in ihrer Haushaltsrede drei Punkte genannt, die mich optimistisch stimmen", sagte Walter-Borjans der Düsseldorfer "Rheinschen Post" (Montag). Die Bundeskanzlerin habe ganz klar gesagt, dass man beim Klimaschutz stärker als bisher vorankommen müsse.

"Der zweite Punkt betrifft das Thema des Auseinanderdriftens der Gesellschaft und der Regionen. Das ändert sich aber nicht, wenn CDU und CSU die Vermögensteuer total ablehnen oder unter allen Umständen auf der schwarzen Null beharren", sagte Walter-Borjans. "Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass CDU und CSU sich lange hinter dem Fetisch der schwarzen Null verbarrikadieren." Ferner habe Merkel die Transformation der Automobilindustrie in Richtung E-Mobilität erwähnt. "Wenn sie alle drei Punkte ernst nimmt, sehe ich deutlichen Spielraum für Verhandlungen.
