"Egal, wie man zu dieser Pipeline steht, klar ist, dass die Vereinigten Staaten mit den geplanten Sanktionen gegen die Regeln des Binnenmarkts der Europäischen Union verstoßen", kritisierte Trittin. Würden die USA sich durchsetzen, wäre es schlecht für das Klima. "Und es würde teuer für Haushalte und Unternehmen in Europa", warnte der Grüne. Europa und Deutschland müssten "endlich anfangen, sich gegen diese Form eines Wirtschaftskriegs zu wehren". Es sei offenkundig, dass es den USA vor allem um den Verkauf des von ihnen durch Fracking produzierten Gases geht.
Nordstream 2 führt von Russland nach Deutschland
Nord Stream 2 soll vom kommenden Jahr an unter Umgehung von Polen und der Ukraine Gas von Russland nach Deutschland liefern. Bislang wurden nach Angaben des Nord-Stream-2-Konsortiums mehr als 2100 Kilometer des Doppelstrangs in der Ostsee verlegt, rund 300 Kilometer fehlen noch. Green foreign politician Jürgen Trittin has criticized possible US sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea pipeline as "unprecedented interference" in Europe's energy supply. "The US is targeting Russia but hitting Europe," Trittin told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung". Nord Stream 2 is approved under European law and lies outside the jurisdiction of the USA.
"Whatever one's position on this pipeline, it is clear that the United States is violating the rules of the European Union's internal market with the planned sanctions," criticised Trittin. If the US were to prevail, it would be bad for the climate. "And it would be expensive for households and companies in Europe," warned the Green. Europe and Germany must "finally begin to defend themselves against this form of economic war". It is obvious that the USA is primarily interested in selling the gas they produce through fracking.
Nordstream 2 leads from Russia to Germany
Nord Stream 2 will start supplying gas from Russia to Germany next year, bypassing Poland and Ukraine.
