Gleichzeitig warnte Fratzscher vor zu hohen Erwartungen: "Davos wird keine Lösungen schaffen", sagte er. Aber er hoffe, dass es ein besseres Verständnis, gerade bei der wirtschaftlichen, politischen Elite, gebe, "zu sehen, wo der Schuh drückt". Viele begingen den Fehler, Wachstum und Wohlstand als Widerspruch zum Klimaschutz zu sehen, kritisierte der Präsident des DIW. Damit hätten sie noch nicht verstanden, worum es ginge.
Klimaschutz sei genau dazu da, Wohlstand zu wahren - "gerade für künftige Generationen. Solange dieses Verständnis nicht da ist, [...] wird es schwierig sein, wirklich eine gute Lösung zu finden."
