Parteienexperte fordert sofortige Neuwahlen in Thüringen

In view of the events in Thuringia last week, sociologist Klaus Dörre calls for immediate new elections in the state and for the Union of Values to be excluded from the CDU: "It is unclear how things will continue. The CDU is blocking new elections, the Left Party is also waving its arms around. Gauland is calling on the AfD to vote for Ramelow in order to damage him," the professor at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena said in an interview with the Berlin-based daily newspaper "neues deutschland".

With FDP politician Thomas Kemmerich, who announced his resignation as prime minister due to political pressure over the weekend, and Thuringia's CDU leader Mike Mohring, there is no chance of making a red-red-green minority government, he said. "We need new elections immediately", said Dörre.  Dörre accuses the CDU federal leadership of being partly to blame for the election of Kemmerich as Thuringian Premier on Wednesday with votes from the AfD and the "taboo breaker" that came with it. "When Mohring first wanted to talk to the Left Party, the federal leadership intervened. If there had been a clear position of the CDU leadership to support a minority government and define projects, this would have happened," the sociologist explains. According to him, the CDU is "deeply divided, the leadership is trying to keep the wings together". But the party must "clear the air and separate itself from the ultra-right-wing union of values," he says. "Otherwise it can no longer make credible policies", says Dörre. pm, ots, mei
