Auf Facebook postete Jürgen Klinsmann seinen Abschied als Hertha-Cheftrainer. Laut eigenem Bekunden fehlte ihm offenbar das "Vertrauen der handelnden Personen". Hier sein Statement im Wortlaut.
Liebe Herthaner,
auf diesem Wege sage ich ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön an alle Spieler, Fans, Zuschauer, Betreuer und Mitarbeiter von Hertha BSC für die Unterstützung, die vielen Begegnungen und den Austausch in den vergangenen zehn Wochen. Diese Zeit war für mich überaus spannend und brachte viele interessante neue Einblicke. Der Klub und die Stadt sind mir noch stärker ans Herz gewachsen.
Ende November haben wir mit einem hochkompetenten Team dem Wunsch der Vereinsführung entsprochen und ihr in einer schwierigen Zeit geholfen. Wir waren in der relativ kurzen Zeit auf einem sehr guten Weg, haben auch dank der Unterstützung vieler Menschen trotz meist schwieriger Spiele inzwischen sechs Punkte Abstand zum Relegationsplatz. Ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass die Hertha das Ziel – den Klassenverbleib - schaffen wird.
Als Cheftrainer benötige ich allerdings für diese Aufgabe, die noch nicht erledigt ist, auch das Vertrauen der handelnden Personen. Gerade im Abstiegskampf sind Einheit, Zusammenhalt und Konzentration auf das Wesentliche die wichtigsten Elemente. Sind die nicht garantiert, kann ich mein Potenzial als Trainer nicht ausschöpfen und kann meiner Verantwortung somit auch nicht gerecht werden.
Deshalb bin ich nach langer Überlegung zum Schluss gekommen, mein Amt als Cheftrainer der Hertha zur Verfügung zu stellen und mich wieder auf meine ursprüngliche langfristig angelegte Aufgabe als Aufsichtsratsmitglied zurückzuziehen.
Die Anhänger, die Spieler und die Mitarbeiter sind mir in dieser Zeit natürlich ans Herz gewachsen und deshalb werde ich weiter mit der Hertha fiebern. Ich freue mich weiterhin auf viele Begegnungen in der Stadt oder im Stadion.

Drumbeat at Hertha BSC Berlin. After only ten weeks, Juergen Klinsmann is resigning from his position as head coach. We are documenting his declaration in the wording. On Facebook, Juergen Klinsmann posted his farewell as Hertha head coach. According to his own statement, he lacked the "trust of the acting persons". Here is his statement.
Dear Hertha people,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, fans, spectators, coaches and staff of Hertha BSC for their support, the many encounters and exchanges over the past ten weeks. This time was extremely exciting for me and brought many interesting new insights. The club and the city have become even closer to my heart.
At the end of November, we responded to the wishes of the club management with a highly competent team and helped them in a difficult time. We were on a very good path in the relatively short time, and thanks also to the support of many people, we are now six points behind the relegation team despite mostly difficult matches. I am firmly convinced that Hertha will achieve the goal - to stay in the class.
However, as head coach I also need the trust of the people involved for this task, which has not yet been completed. Especially in the battle of relegation, unity, cohesion and concentration on the essentials are the most important elements. If these are not guaranteed, I cannot exploit my potential as a trainer and therefore cannot fulfil my responsibilities.
That's why, after much deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that I should make my position as head coach available to Hertha and return to my original long-term task as a member of the Supervisory Board.
The supporters, the players and the staff have naturally grown dear to my heart during this time and I will therefore continue to fever with Hertha. I continue to look forward to many encounters in the city or in the stadium. mei
