"Ich höre als Geschäftsführer erst auf, wenn es Werder wieder deutlich besser geht. Dafür werde ich alles tun", sagte er am Donnerstagabend während einer Talkrunde des Bremer Weser-Kurier.
Der 44-Jährige räumte aber Versäumnisse ein und sagte: "Wir alle haben Fehler gemacht - ich, der Trainer, die Mannschaft. Sonst wären wir nicht in der Situation. Aber ich möchte betonen: Alles, was ich tue, ist im Sinne des Vereins."
Baumann hält Kohlfeldt weiter die Treue
Zum wiederholten Male sprach Baumann Florian Kohfeldt sein Vertrauen aus und erklärte, dass dieser über den 1. Juli hinaus Werder-Trainer sein werde. "Er ist der Richtige. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass wir gemeinsam etwas wieder aufbauen können. Aber das braucht Zeit", betonte der Geschäftsführer Sport. Ein Trainerwechsel sei keine Garantie dafür, dass es danach besser laufe, sagte der Ex-Profi.
"Wir haben eine andere Qualität im Training"
Mit Blick auf die verbleibenden elf Bundesligaspiele zeigte sich Baumann optimistisch. Zuletzt kehrten einige verletzte Spieler wie Theodor Gebre Selassie und Ludwig Augustinsson zurück. Der Geschäftsführer betonte daher: "Wir haben jetzt eine andere Qualität im Training, es gibt wieder Konkurrenzkampf. Und wenn Florian Kohfeldt mit der Mannschaft Automatismen erarbeiten kann, wird das Spiel besser. Dafür steht er. Das dauert jetzt eben länger aufgrund der Verletzungsproblematik." pm, ots

In view of the threat of relegation, Frank Baumann has ruled out resigning as Werder Bremen's Managing Director Sport: "I will only quit as Managing Director when Werder is clearly better again. Baumann is still loyal to Kohlfeldt
Baumann once again expressed his confidence in Florian Kohfeldt and declared that he would be Werder coach beyond July 1. "He's the right one. I am convinced that together we can rebuild something.
