Demnach gibt es für jede der 47 Kreispolizeibehörden in NRW einen Pandemie-Koordinator, der sicherstellen soll, dass die Vorsorgemaßnahmen umgesetzt werden. Unterstützt wird der jeweilige Koordinator von Pandemie-Helfern. Dem Erlass zufolge gibt es spezielle Schutz-Sets für den Einsatz. "Wir haben Handschuhe und Schutzmasken, die auch wirklich schützen. Sie werden einsatzabhängig ausgegeben", so der Sprecher. Außerdem sieht der interne Polizeiplan aus, dass im Notfall Kräfte verschoben werden können. "Sollte zum Beispiel im Kreis Heinsberg bei der Polizei die Hälfte der Belegschaft ausfallen, können wir die entstandene Lücke durch Koordination und Verschiebung anderer Kräfte schließen", so der Sprecher.
Die Polizei muss handlungsfähig bleiben
"Es ist wichtig, dass die Handlungsfähigkeit der Polizei sichergestellt bleibt", sagte Michael Maatz, stellvertretender Landesvorsitzende der Gewerkschaft der Polizei (GdP). "Polizisten können Körperkontakt während des Einsatzes nicht vermeiden. Das gehört zur Polizeiarbeit dazu. Deshalb ist es sehr wichtig, dass sie auch durch entsprechende Kleidung gut geschützt sind", sagte Maatz.
