Montgomery sagte: "Aber was will man gegen den Überbietungs-wettbewerb föderaler Landespolitiker mit rationalen Argumenten tun?" pm, ots

English version

World Medical President Frank Ulrich Montgomery has criticised the planned almost nationwide compulsory wearing of masks: "I wear a mask myself, out of politeness and solidarity, but I think a legal obligation is wrong," Montgomery told the Düsseldorf newspaper "Rheinische Post". "Anyone who wears a mask is sure to think that they are forgetting the only decisive minimum distance," the physician emphasized.

Masks could become dangerous if used improperly. The virus is concentrated in the material, when you take it off you touch the skin of your face, there is hardly a faster way to get infected. Montgomery went on to explain that there can only be a legal obligation to wear a mask for real protective masks - an obligation for scarves or shawls is "ridiculous". At the same time, he pointed out that all "genuinely effective masks" for medical personnel, nursing staff and those at risk were still needed. Montgomery said: "But what do you want to do with rational arguments against the outbidding competition of federal state politicians?"
