English version

In the Corona crisis, the Aral parent company BP Europa SE deliberately refrains from short-time work despite significantly reduced production. "As BP, we have clearly decided that we do not want to burden the state treasury when we pay dividends as a BP Group," BP European boss Wolfgang Langhoff told the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.

"From today's perspective, we are also not planning any job cuts because of Corona," he added. In Germany BP employs around 4600 people, of whom about 800 work at the administrative location in Bochum and 2000 at the refinery in Gelsenkirchen. BP European boss Langhoff considers accusations that fuel prices in Germany are too high in view of the rapidly falling crude oil prices to be unfounded. "Even if a litre of E10 would cost nothing at the filling station, 65.5 cents energy tax plus 19 percent VAT, i.e. a total of around 78 cents in taxes, would have to be paid to the state". Currently, fuel prices in Germany are "very low".
