"Egal wer den Impfstoff zuerst hat: Es muss sichergestellt sein, dass er überall auf der Welt und zu einem erschwinglichen Preis verfügbar ist. Denn Corona besiegen wir nur weltweit, sonst kommt es in Wellen zurück."
Corona sei ein Weckruf für eine bessere internationale Zusammenarbeit. "Wir müssen alle Kräfte bündeln, um schnell einen Impfstoff zu entwickeln." Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation WHO müsse gestärkt, Forschungsverbünden müssten aufgebaut werden. Deutschland gehe als Co-Gastgeber der Geberkonferenz und drittgrößter Geber im Gesundheitsbereich voran.
Eine weltweite Impfkampagne wird vorbereitet
"Für die Zeit, wenn ein Impfstoff vorhanden ist, bereiten wir daher mit der globalen Impfallianz GAVI eine weltweite Impfkampagne vor." Im deutschen "Corona-Sofortprogramm" seien zusätzliche Mittel vorgesehen. Es zeichne sich bereits ab, dass die Corona-Krise durch eine zusätzliche "Hunger-Pandemie" in Afrika einen neuen Migrationsdruck auslösen werde, mahnte Müller.
Katastrophale Auswirkungen in den Flüchtlingsgebieten
"Afrika kann sich noch nicht selbst ernähren. Transportwege sind geschlossen, ganze Ernten drohen auszufallen." Die Versorgung von vielen Millionen Menschen sei gefährdet. "Gerade in den Flüchtlingsgebieten wird es katastrophale Auswirkungen haben. Diese Hungerkatastrophe nutzen terroristische Gruppen bereits gezielt, um Regierungen zu stürzen. Schon jetzt gibt es in vielen Ländern eine Zunahme der Binnenflüchtlinge wie nie zuvor. 20 Staaten sind nahe am Bankrott. Dann bricht alles zusammen, keine Ärzte, keine Polizei.
