The international aid organisation CARE is extremely concerned after the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the world's largest refugee camp in Cox's Bazaar (Bangladesh). A total of around 855,000 people live in the camps, almost all of whom are Rohingya refugees from neighbouring Myanmar. The Covid-19 outbreak is a cause for great concern, as it is almost impossible to maintain a safe distance in the overcrowded camps. In addition, local medical care is by no means sufficient to stop an outbreak.

The lack of space, combined with inadequate hygiene and medical care, could encourage the spread of Covid-19. The Rohingya in Cox's bazaar have already suffered unspeakable trauma.
