Das Verbraucherportal Testberichte.de hat eine Million Online-Bewertungen von Besuchern ausgewertet, herausgekom-men ist Deutschlands umfangreichstes Ranking mit über 1.000 Burgen und Schlössern.
Die Felsenburg Neurathen in der Sächsischen Schweiz ist derzeit die bestbewertete Burg in ganz Deutschland: Besucher verwenden häufig das Wort "phantastisch" und beziehen es sowohl auf die tollkühn an steilen Felswänden im 12. Jahrhundert errichtete Burg beziehungsweise deren verbliebenen Resten wie auch die Ausblicke vom Rundweg, der teilweise über Brücken in "schwindelerregender Höhe" führt; manche sprechen gar von einem "der schönsten Orte in Deutschland".
Den Besuchern gefällt der Ausblick
Auf den Plätzen zwei und drei im Ranking liegen mit ebenfalls 4,8 Sternen die Burgruinen im oberpfälzischen Waldeck beziehungsweise im schwäbischen Reutlingen auf dem Berg Achalm. Auch hier gefällt Besuchen vor allem der jeweilige Ausblick, außerdem die umliegenden Wanderwege und die schönen Möglichkeiten, Fotos zu machen. In Waldeck wird darüber hinaus die "Restaurierung mit Herzblut" hervorgehoben, während die Achalm für einen Besucher "außer dem Matterhorn der schönste Berg der Welt" ist.
Beliebteste Schlösser: Zwinger, Schloss Schwerin und Residenzschloss Dresden
Die bestbewerteten Schlösser sind der Zwinger (Platz 4 im Gesamt-Ranking) und das Residenzschloss (Platz 8), beide in Dresden, sowie das Schloss Schwerin (Platz 6) - mit jeweils 4,7 Sternen. Besucher erfreuen sich hier besonders an der Schönheit der Gebäude und den jeweils beherbergten Museen, außerdem am Innenhof (Zwinger), dem "märchenhaften" umgebenden Park mit Seen (Schwerin) und dem gelungenen Wiederaufbau (Residenzschloss).
Burgen und Schlösser in Hünxe, Usedom und Alf: Hier geht noch was
Auf dem letzten Platz ist das Schloss Gartrop im nordrhein-westfälischen Hünxe. Das Gebäude und die Kulisse werden durchgehend positiv bewertet; negative Einschätzungen beziehen sich auf den Service des Hotels im Schloss, was zu insgesamt bescheidenen 3,2 Sternen führt. Auch Schloss Pudagla auf Usedom (Vorletzter) hat viele Fans, oft werden fünf Sterne vergeben. Etliche Besucher finden aber, dass das Gebäude eine Sanierung vertragen könnte, so dass es zu durchschnittlich nur 3,5 Sternen reicht. Bei der privat betriebenen Burg Arras im rheinland-pfälzischen Alf an der Mosel gibt es Kritik vor allem an der Höhe der Preise für Eintritt und Parken, manchmal auch am Essen des Restaurants. Das führt insgesamt zum Ergebnis von 3,5 Sternen - trotz des vielfachen Lobs für das Gebäude und die Aussicht.
Die Deutschen lieben ihre Burgen und Schlösser
Trotz mancher Kritik insbesondere an den heutigen Angeboten innerhalb der Gebäude (z.B. Hotels, Restaurants, Event-Locations, Jugendherbergen oder Museen): Insgesamt sind die Besucher mit den Burgen und Schlössern in Deutschland sehr zufrieden. Der Bewertungsschnitt von 4,43 Sternen ist der zweithöchste, den Testberichte.de in seinen Rankings bisher gemessen hat (Museen, Kinos, Freibäder, Freizeitparks, Thermen, Stadien, Weihnachtsmärkte, Zoos), die Spannbreite des Durchschnitts liegt dabei zwischen 4,10 und 4,44 Sternen. Konkret bedeutet das, dass Burgen und Schlösser ab 4,5 Sternen als überdurchschnittlich attraktiv eingeschätzt werden.
Die Stars bei Instagram: Neuschwanstein, Burg Eltz und Schloss Charlottenburg
Schaut man vor allem auf quantitative Kriterien, gewinnt das weltweit bekannteste deutsche Schloss: Über 55.000 Besucher haben bei Google bisher Schloss Neuschwanstein bewertet (mit 4,6 Sternen auf Platz 65 im Ranking). Es folgen der Zwinger (35.000 Bewertungen, 4,7 Sterne, Platz 6) und Schloss Heidelberg (33.000 Bewertungen, 4,6 Sterne, Platz 66). Durchschnittlich wurden 995 Bewertungen pro Burg bzw. Schloss vergeben. Erstmalig hat Testberichte.de die Popularität der Angebote parallel bei Instagram ausgewertet. Hier führt ebenfalls das Märchenschloss Königs Ludwigs II - bereits rund 400.000 mal wurde der Hashtag #neuschwanstein vergeben. In Corona times, Germany's castles and palaces are an ideal destination. But which of the stately buildings are particularly worth a visit? The consumer portal Testberichte.de has evaluated one million online ratings from visitors, the result is Germany's most comprehensive ranking with over 1,000 castles and palaces.
The Felsenburg Neurathen in Saxon Switzerland is currently the best-rated castle in the whole of Germany: visitors often use the word "fantastic" and refer both to the castle, built in the 12th century on steep cliffs, and its remaining remains, as well as the views from the circular path, some of which leads over bridges at "dizzying heights"; some even speak of it as "one of the most beautiful places in Germany".
Visitors like the view
The castle ruins in Waldeck in the Upper Palatinate and in Reutlingen on Mount Achalm in Swabia are also ranked second and third with 4.8 stars. Here, too, visitors like the view, the surrounding hiking trails and the beautiful opportunities to take pictures. In Waldeck, the "restoration with heart and soul" is also emphasized, while the Achalm is for a visitor "apart from the Matterhorn, the most beautiful mountain in the world".
Most popular castles: Zwinger, Schwerin Castle and Dresden Residence Castle
The best rated castles are the Zwinger (4th place in the overall ranking) and the Residenzschloss (8th place), both in Dresden, as well as the Schwerin Castle (6th place) - with 4.7 stars each. Visitors are particularly pleased with the beauty of the buildings and the museums they house, as well as the inner courtyard (Zwinger), the "fairytale" surrounding park with lakes (Schwerin) and the successful reconstruction (Residenzschloss).
Castles and palaces in Hünxe, Usedom and Alf: There's more to come
In last place is Gartrop Castle in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia. The building and the scenery are consistently rated positively; negative ratings refer to the service of the hotel in the castle, which leads to a modest 3.2 stars overall. Schloss Pudagla on Usedom (penultimate) also has many fans, often five stars are awarded. However, many visitors find that the building could use a refurbishment, so that the average rating is only 3.5 stars. In the case of the privately run Arras Castle in Alf on the Moselle in Rhineland-Palatinate, there is criticism mainly of the high prices for admission and parking, sometimes also of the food in the restaurant. This leads to an overall result of 3.5 stars - despite the many praises for the building and the view.
Germans love their castles and palaces
Despite some criticism, especially of the current offers within the buildings (e.g. hotels, restaurants, event locations, youth hostels or museums): Overall, visitors are very satisfied with the castles and palaces in Germany. The rating average of 4.43 stars is the second highest that Testberichte.de has measured so far in its rankings (museums, cinemas, outdoor swimming pools, leisure parks, thermal baths, stadiums, Christmas markets, zoos), the range of the average is between 4.10 and 4.44 stars. In concrete terms, this means that castles and palaces from 4.5 stars upwards are considered to be of above-average attractiveness.
The stars at Instagram: Neuschwanstein, Eltz Castle and Charlottenburg Palace
If one looks primarily at quantitative criteria, the world's most famous German castle wins: Over 55,000 visitors have so far rated Neuschwanstein Castle on Google (with 4.6 stars in the ranking, at 65th place).
