"Wenn dann noch der Eindruck hinzukommt, nicht mehr alleine zu sein, andere denken genauso, dann führt das zu Christchurch, El Paso, nach Halle und nach Hanau. Bei diesen schwersten terroristischen Anschlägen war immer als ganz wesentliches Motiv eine Verschwörungsideologie im Hintergrund", sagte Freier. Deshalb gehe der NRW-Verfassungsschutz davon aus, dass die aktuellen Proteste nicht nur Ausdruck von Sorge und Unzufriedenheit seien, weil Personen den Eindruck hätten, sie seien mit den Entscheidungen der Regierung nicht einverstanden. "Sondern es sind Proteste, die auch deutlich machen, dass es Personen gibt, die demokratiefeindlich sind und unsere Werte nicht teilen. Diese Proteste sind ein Resonanzboden für Extremisten", sagte Freier.
