Ohne Zuganbindung sind allein fünf Städte im Landkreis Osnabrück, sieben Städte im Emsland, sechs Städte im Landkreis Cloppenburg und sechs Städte im Landkreis Leer. Das geht aus der Antwort der Bundesregierung auf eine Anfrage des Bundestagsabgeordneten Sven-Christian Kindler (Grüne) hervor, die der "Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung" (NOZ) vorliegt.
Kindler wollte vom Bundesverkehrs-ministerium wissen, welche Städte in Niedersachsen derzeit ohne Anbindung an den Schienenpersonenverkehr sind. Ohne Zuganbindung vor der Tür sind nach Angaben des Ministeriums demnach 74 Städte zwischen 10.000 und 20.000 Einwohnern, neun Städte zwischen 20.000 und 30.000 Einwohnern und zwei Städte zwischen 30.000 und 40.000 Einwohnern. Aurich in Ostfriesland ist mit mehr als 40.000 Einwohnern die einzige Stadt dieser Größe ohne Bahnhof. Garbsen bei Hannover hat mit mehr als 50.000 Einwohnern ebenfalls keine Zuganbindung.
Straßenbau steht an erster Stelle
Der Grünen-Politiker hält die Zahlen für "ein Armutszeugnis". "Dass zwölf mittelgroße Städte und mit Garbsen eine der größeren Städte Niedersachsens im Jahr 2020 keine Anbindung an den Schienenpersonenverkehr haben, ist ein Armutszeugnis. Für Niedersachsens Verkehrsminister Bernd Althusmann und Bundesverkehrsminister Andreas Scheuer steht trotz Klimakrise, schlechter Luft und Verkehrskollaps der Straßenbau noch immer an erster Stelle", kritisiert Kindler. Er fordert, dass bis 2030 viele Mittelzentren Niedersachsens wieder an den Zugverkehr angeschlossen werden.
