"Wir rechnen damit, dass weitere Impfstoffdosen im Großhandel, in den Apotheken und in Arztpraxen lagern. Das sollte reichen, um die große Nachfrage nach Grippeimpfungen zu befriedigen."
Das Ministerium reagierte damit auf Klagen von Ärzten, der Grippe-Impfstoff sei vielerorts schon aufgebraucht. So hatte etwa der Berufsverband der Kinder- und Jugendärzte (BVKJ) gewarnt, die Impfdosen reichten offenbar nicht einmal für alle Risikopatienten aus.
Sechs Millionen Impfdosen zusätzlich geordert
Spahn hatte angesichts der Corona-Pandemie mehrfach an die Bürger appelliert, sich in diesem Jahr verstärkt gegen Influenza impfen zu lassen, damit es in Herbst und Winter nicht gleichzeitig zu vielen Grippe- und Corona-Fällen kommt. Das Gesundheitsministerium hatte deswegen frühzeitig sechs Millionen Grippe-Impfdosen zusätzlich geordert.
Doppelt so hoch wie der Bedarf
Die Gesamtkapazität von fast 27 Millionen Dosen liegt fast doppelt so hoch wie der Bedarf der Vorsaison. Nach Ministeriumsangaben standen in der zurückliegenden Saison 21 Millionen Dosen zur Verfügung, von denen nur 14 Millionen tatsächlich verimpft worden seien. pm, ots

Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has countered complaints about an acute shortage of flu vaccine doses. A total of 26.675 million vaccine doses have been procured for this flu season. "Of these, 7.4 million doses are still available to be delivered in the coming weeks until the end of the year," a spokesman for the Ministry of Health told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (NOZ). In view of the corona pandemic, Spahn had appealed to citizens several times to get more influenza vaccinations this year so that there are not many cases of flu and corona at the same time in autumn and winter.
