"Beim nächsten Bund-Länder-Treffen am Mittwoch braucht es unbedingt neue Anti-Corona-Beschlüsse. Dazu sollte gehören, dass an allen weiterführenden Schulen die Klassen sofort geteilt werden und auf Wechselunterricht umgestellt wird", sagte Kekulé im Interview mit der "Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung" (NOZ).
"Zweitens sollten die Weihnachtsferien bundesweit eine Woche vor dem 24. Dezember beginnen. Dadurch würde man auch die außerschulischen Kontakte deutlich reduzieren", so der Virologe in der "NOZ". Das könne einen wertvollen Puffer schaffen, um bis zum Jahreswechsel zurück in den grünen Bereich zu kommen. "Das große Problem ist nicht der Kontakt im Unterricht selbst, wenn die Schüler Masken tragen, sondern unkontrollierte Treffen nach Schulschluss. Dabei wird das Virus massiv verbreitet. Und das muss gestoppt werden!"
Kitas und Grundschulen sollen offen bleiben
Anders als weiterführende Schulen sollten Kitas und Grundschulen "unter strengster Beobachtung durchgängig geöffnet bleiben", betonte der Professor der Universität Halle-Wittenberg, dessen Buch "Corona-Kompass" am Montag erscheint. Denn es sei in Studien "hinlänglich bewiesen", dass "Kinder bis zehn, zwölf Jahren das Virus selbst bei einer Ansteckung kaum weitergeben".
Wechselunterricht an weiterführenden Schulen
Neben Wechselunterricht für weiterführende Schulen und einem Vorziehen der Ferien forderte Kekulé eine deutliche Ausweitung der Maskenpflicht. "Wo sich zwei Menschen verschiedener Haushalte in Innenräumen begegnen, müssen Mund und Nase bedeckt werden. Das heißt: Maskenpflicht im Büro, im Taxi, für Handwerker, die zu mehreren im Lieferwagen sitzen", sagte der Virologe und Mikrobiologe. Zu denken sei auch an die Paketzusteller, die vor Weihnachten verstärkt unterwegs sein würden. "Auch für sie muss gelten: Maske auf im Treppenhaus."
Keinen Massenausbruch unter Maskenträgern
"Man kann es nicht oft genug sagen, aber es gibt weltweit keinen Massenausbruch unter Maskenträgern!", begründete Kekulé seine Forderung. 80 Prozent der Infektionen gingen auf Mehrfachansteckungen zurück. "Das Unterbinden von Superspreading-Ereignissen ist absolut entscheidend."
Vernünftigste Stimme im Land
Die von Kanzlerin Angela Merkel geforderte Begrenzung der Familienkontakte auf einen anderen Haushalt beziehungsweise auf einen Spielkameraden lehnte der Wissenschaftler hingegen strikt ab. Das Konzept habe in Kanada nur für kurze Zeit funktioniert und dann für "enorme Verwerfungen" gesorgt, sagte der Forscher. "Das Problem liegt auf der Hand: Bei Familien mit mehreren Kindern kommt es selbst bei nur einem Freund entweder zur Mischung verschiedener Blasen, oder alle anderen Familienmitglieder müssten sich isolieren", sagte Kekulé und ergänzte: "Unsere Bundeskanzlerin ist seit Wochen eine der vernünftigsten Stimmen im Land, aber dieser Vorschlag ist nicht wirksam, nicht durchsetzbar und nicht notwendig."
Keinen Grund für Corona-Fatalismus
Eine besserer Alternative wäre es laut Kekulé, die Zahl der Menschen aus verschiedenen Haushalten, die sich weiterhin treffen dürfen, von zehn auf fünf zu halbieren. "Dafür würde ich plädieren. Viele Familien machen das ja schon jetzt, weil sie wissen, dass es vernünftig ist."Es gebe "überhaupt keinen Grund für Corona-Fatalismus!", ergänzte der Forscher. Entscheidend werde sein, "dass an Weihnachten und Silvester Vernunft herrscht und katastrophale Massenausbrüche verhindert werden". Wenn das gelinge, "bin ich überzeugt, dass wir im Januar auf eine Langzeitstrategie umschalten können, ja müssen, und das normale Leben zurückkehrt."
