Nach dem beeindruckenden Sieg auf dem stimmungsvollen Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez liegt der 24-jährige Niederländer nun 19 Punkte vor Lewis Hamilton. Der Brite und Mercedes-Motorsportchef Toto Wolff waren insbesondere von der Performance des Teamkollegen Valtteri Bottas nicht zufrieden, weil dieser während des Starts Verstappen ungehindert überholen ließ.
Weiteres Lamentieren scheint jedoch seitens Mercedes keine Option, der Fokus liegt nun gänzlich auf dem Großen Preis von Sao Paolo.
Neuer Qualifikationsmodus im Test
Nach Silverstone und Monza testet die Formel 1 zum dritten Mal in dieser Saison den neuen Qualifikationsmodus. Im Sprint-Qualifying über 100 Kilometer erhalten die drei Erstplatzierten bereits Punkte. Somit bietet sich Hamiltons erste Gelegenheit schon am Samstag, Boden auf Verstappen gutzumachen. Everyone is still talking about Max Verstappen's rocket start in Mexico last weekend, and the next race is already upon us.
After his impressive victory at the atmospheric Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the 24-year-old Dutchman is now 19 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Briton and Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff were particularly unhappy with the performance of team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who allowed Verstappen to overtake unhindered during the start.
Further complaining, however, does not seem to be an option on the part of Mercedes; the focus is now entirely on the Grand Prix of Sao Paolo.
New Qualifying Mode in Test
After Silverstone and Monza, Formula 1 is testing the new qualifying mode for the third time this season. In the sprint qualifying over 100 kilometres, the top three finishers already receive points.
