"Das ist die hässliche Fratze des Alltagsrassismus in unserem Land. Vorfälle wie dieser sind absolut widerwärtig", sagte der SPD-Politiker der "Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung". Er bedaure, dass Menschen "den Sport für derart widerliche Aktionen missbrauchen". Gleichzeitig lobte Pistorius, der aus Osnabrück stammt, die Reaktionen auf den Vorfall im Duisburger Stadion: "Es war eine großartige und solidarische Reaktion der Zuschauer und der beiden Mannschaften, die gesagt haben, wir spielen nicht weiter." Rassismus könne man nur mit Konsequenz und Geschlossenheit gegenübertreten. "Ich bin sehr froh, dass der Täter identifiziert werden konnte.
